the TOMS 'Art of Giving' - Edinburgh Exhibition

In November last year, I was asked to take part in the TOMS shoes Art of Giving event.

20 artists are taking part in this unique Edinburgh show, so it was an absolute pleasure to be asked to be involved. I was supplied with a pair of TOMS plain canvas shoes and sunglasses, and asked to paint them with an interpretation of what giving means.

All the shoes created by the artists are available for purchase via a silent auction which will run from 18th - 25th Jan, raising money for the TOMS charity.

I have also created a painting to tie in with the event (and the shoes!) which will be exhibited alongside the TOMS shoes and sunglasses. The painting will be available for purchase by contacting myself directly. I will of course post images on my website for those unable to attend the exhibition.

The Art of Giving tour started in Canada last year, before moving onto Dublin, Liverpool, and now Edinburgh.

To confirm you want to attend the Preview Evening, RSVP to; artedinburgh@toms.com
You can mention my name if you want.

Complimentary drinks are provided all evening with entertainment from the Foo Birds!

For every pair purchased, TOMS will give a new pair of shoes to a child in need, One for One.

Upcoming Shows and Fairs

I know I haven't updated my blog for a while now, mainly because I haven't actually done much painting! The last month or so has been taken up by School holidays, short breaks and just general pottering around the house with only a minimum amount of my time dedicated to painting.

Thankfully I do now feel totally refreshed and this past week has been great, just to get back into working and with a few shows and fairs coming up, what better reason to crack on with some brand new work and develop new ideas!....

I will post some images of exhibiting work nearer the show dates, so keep checking back ! :)

New Exhibition at Artery Gallery, St Andrews

one: Trike
(8" x 8" acrylic on box canvas)

A new collection of 8 original paintings are now on show at Artery Gallery in St Andrews, Scotland, including 4 new 'one' paintings.

I'm really pleased with the response this new series has achieved, consistently selling well and one off commissions are also proving a popular choice. Artery Gallery is only the second gallery to be showing this series so hopefully the success will continue and with Artery's track record for selling my work, I'm very hopeful of a positive exhibition.

Between 2007 and 2009, my paintings received much admiration whilst on show at Artery, and now after a break, it's great to be working in conjunction with the gallery once more.

For more information log onto the gallery website at www.arteryuk.com or get on your 'Trike' and visit Artery Gallery at 43 South Street, St Andrews, Fife.

Glasgow Art Fair

Thought I'd have a day out of the studio today to visit the Glasgow Art Fair in George Square.

There is a couple of galleries I've arranged to meet and I'm sure there will be others worth chatting to.

I already have a couple of new exhibitions coming up, so hopefully I can build on my calendar after today.

More news to come soon.

Debut Canadian Exhibition @ Leonardo Galleries, Toronto

This is my debut exhibition in Canada and the first outside of the UK. Unfortuntely it's an expensive job shipping paintings half way around the world, so only 4 original paintings are being exhibited but I am looking forward to the response they recieve.....hopefully all positive :)

Leonardo Galleries can be found at 133 Avenue Road, in the upmarket Yorkville district of downtown Toronto. You can find out more about their history, events and services here

The exhibition can be viewed on their website, or if you are lucky enough to be in the area, do take time out to visit the gallery.

I wish I could get there myself to not only see my work on exhibit, but to visit what is a wonderful gallery. All being well, maybe I can arrange a trip in the future. Canada has always been on my list of places to visit, so it will be a good excuse to go :)
