New Collaborations - Carruthers and Collins

I would like to introduce you to a new collaboration project between myself and Scottish artist Derek Collins.

These new paintings combine the unique 'Flaming Art' style of Collins' work, along with my familiar characters, creating a quirky human element to each piece, and each telling its own little story.

With carefully blended resins, powders, pigments and liquids, Derek Collins creates abstract, textured paintings which come to life when he adds the final ingredient - fire!

By setting the entire painting alight, Derek creates strong emotive pieces which can be quite spectacular.

Once his process is complete, it's my turn to add the character. In these 2 particular paintings, a boy holding a love heart balloon in 'My Love is Waiting', and a boy getting a bit trigger happy with his paintball gun in 'War Paint'!

We believe these paintings are a true one of a kind, and are superbly unique and colourful artworks that will brighten up any home. I'm certain they will make an interesting talking piece too!

Glasgow Art Show 2012

March 2012 will see the birth of the Glasgow Art Show, a brand new exciting international art fair which will provide a platform in the west of Scotland for the showcasing of fresh, innovative original artworks.

I will have new work on show with Gallery Perutz of Calstone, Wiltshire. The gallery is a regular exhibitor at Art Fairs across the country and I'm pleased to be showing with them once more as they continue to support my work with such an enthusiastic manner.

The art show will be running from Friday March 23rd - 25th with a late private viewing on Thursday 22nd at 6.30pm - 9.30pm.

I do have limited number of invitational tickets available, so just drop me a message if you require any. Each ticket allows 2 people entry into the Private View or any one of the additional public days over the weekend.

The Big Postcard Show

The Big Postcard Show is a new exhibition starting Friday 20th January at Scotlandart Galleries in Edinburgh. The exhibition proved a massive success last year, and with such an eclectic mix of paintings on show by 60 the artists taking part, it should be another great event.

Edinburgh Art Fair

I am pleased to say I will be showing work at this years Edinburgh Art Fair, now in its 7th year and will no doubt be all the more impressive this year as the others!

Life is a Game We Play

Using the idea of board games as metaphors for life, I have created these paintings based around choices, decisions and life changing moments.

As we go through life every decision we make throughout the day shapes our current reality. Some decisions are more important than others of course, but each one can take us on a specific path.

Whether it’s a conscientious choice or perhaps just a moment of luck, for that instant in time sets us up on a new journey.

Often we may go through life oblivious to what thoughts we are thinking and what actions we are taking, but each thought and action shapes who we are as a person as we follow through with the decisions we make.
